Financial Planning & Administrative

Internship

Purposeful SP is looking for an Financial Planning Intern to support the firm with financial planning, administrative, and marketing work. The intern will work with a fiduciary financial advisor to prepare client deliverables, review client financial data, and support the financial planning process.

This role is ideal for a student in a CFP-approved education program looking to learn about financial planning within the RIA space.

 

You will assist the Lead Advisor and other team members with reviewing financial data, entering information into the financial planning platform, and providing general administrative duties. This is a paid internship for assigned work. In addition to assigned work, interns are allowed to sit in, unpaid, on client meetings when appropriate to learn the financial planning process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing client data and entering key data into financial planning software and client Excel file.

  • Administrative work for marketing activities including Snappy Kraken

  • Follow-up and process tracking on internal tasks for client work

  • Facilitating and assisting with the onboarding process

  • Entering orders for portfolio assignment, withdrawals, contributions, and other account activities

Position Details

  • Location: Remote

  • Hours: Vary week to week

  • Type: Work-study internship with pay as a 1099 Contractor

Education, Credentialing, & Licensing

  • Working toward AFC, EA, CFP desired - other certifications may be considered

  • Degree or working toward degree in a related field: Finance, Business, Psychology, Counseling

  • Preferred credentials

    • Pursuing CFP

    • Series 65 or willingness to get Series 65

Desired Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to counsel clients on spending without judgement

  • Good follow-up skills

  • Preferred Skills

    • Experience with the following software (or similar): RightCapital, Holistiplan, Wealthbox

    • Experience with client account maintenance: Charles Schwab or Betterment custodial platforms.


Independent Contractor (1099)

This is an independent contractor position and is virtual. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently identifying and working toward deadlines, including proactively reaching out and getting necessary information to meet deadlines. For example, when a client deliverable is due soon identifying the necessary elements for the client deliverable (from previous examples) and working to ensure all necessary elements are delivered by me for the client deliverable on time.


Pay Rate

This is an hourly independent contractor position. The budget for the positions is between $15 and $20 per hour depending on experience and skills. A rubric is used to determine pay rate based on credentials and experience.
