About Ashley McWhorter, MFP

Financial Planner


Ashley is pursuing her doctorate in financial planning at Texas Tech University and has a passion for the psychology of personal financial planning. Her goal is to use research-based methods, including financial therapy exercises and communication techniques, to help clients enact real behavior changes that lead to improved financial outcomes.

Ashley has worked in a variety of industries and came to financial planning after seeing how increased financial literacy improves lives. Her background includes work as a compliance analyst for Goldman Sachs, research assistant at UC San Diego, and financial planner.

Ashley has conducted primary research in Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina on consumer trust in financial markets within the context of South America. Her current research includes work within the topics of blended families, financial self-efficacy, and communication around money. Apart from work and school, she loves to go salsa dancing and eat sushi.
